Kyndall Winters
As a teenager, Kyndall Winters had no intention of attending college. At 17 she was kicked out of her home, admittedly due to her own issues. She began working in fast food restaurants, eventually working her way up to management.
At 24, with the encouragement of her husband and family, she decided to enroll in Wallace State to pursue something she truly loves — cosmetology — and become something she’s wanted to be her whole life. And she has excelled. A few weeks ago, Kyndall won a gold medal in esthetics at the Alabama SkillsUSA competition and will be competing next month in Atlanta at the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference. She is the recipient of the Applied Technology Award from the Salon and Spa Management program and has maintained a 3.5 GPA. Kyndall lost her father to mental health issues a few years ago, but she knows her father would be proud of the woman she has become. She said her story shows that no matter what hardships you go through in life or how long you’ve been out of school, it’s never too late to become who you are meant to be.
Kyndall, congratulations on meeting your goals and achieving your dreams and good luck at SkillsUSA and in your career.
