The General Education Development (GED) Classes

Classes prepare students to pass the four subjects of the GED Exam: Reading/Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The course of student and materials are designed specifically to prepare students to pass the GED Exam and earn a High School Equivalency Diploma. Classes are offered on campus at WSCC and through the four-county service areas of Cullman, Blount, Morgan, and Winston counties.

To begin the enrollment process, the student will complete an Orientation session. During Orientation a TABE assessment is given in order to establish a plan of instruction that individually meets the specific needs of the student.

GED Online

The same materials that are used in the classroom are also offered online. Therefore, a busy schedule or travel will not hinder your progress. Online classes are available to students who are committed to study at home with necessary computer and internet capabilities. Access to online classes is also made available to students from the classroom outside of scheduled class hours.

GED Exam

As of January 2014 the GED Exam format and cost changed. The exam is now computer based, meaning that you will take the exam on a computer and it will be graded the same day. The content of the exam has changed in that the four subjects (Reading/Language, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies) pose questions at the high school grade level and require critical thinking skills. In addition, the cost of the exam is $30 per section (4 sections) or $120 for the full test battery.
