Plumbing Assistant

Begin a career in the skilled trades with the Plumbing Assistant course at Wallace State Community College. This tuition-free Skills for Success course introduces students to essential plumbing tools, materials, safety practices, and hands-on techniques used in residential and commercial plumbing. Employers may also enroll current staff to strengthen foundational plumbing skills.

PlumbingAbout the Course
Students learn the fundamentals of plumbing systems, including proper tool selection, pipe measuring and cutting, joining methods (PVC, copper, and PEX), leak detection, and basic fixture installation. Emphasis is placed on safety, personal protective equipment (PPE), and industry best practices.

This is a hybrid course, combining online instruction with an in-person lab that provides hands-on training and practical application of plumbing skills, including pipe cutting and joining, leak detection and repair, and sink and toilet installation.

Admission Requirements
This course is offered at no cost. Participants must be 16 years of age or older to enroll. No diploma or GED required.
