Wallace State signs Memorandum of Understanding with Auburn University
Hanceville, AL — Wallace State Community College and Auburn University recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a Bachelor of Science pathway for Wallace State students transferring to Auburn University’s College of Agriculture.
“I am excited about this signing agreement between Auburn and Wallace State,” said Jerry Murcks, Associate Dean of Applied Technologies at Wallace State. “It will allow Auburn to serve our student body, providing Wallace State students a smooth transition to continue their education in Agriculture Science.”
While the agreement extends to all undergraduate majors in the College of Agriculture at Auburn University, specific transfer pathways have been development for Horticulture and Agriculture Science majors, both housed in the Department of Horticulture.
Murcks said the agreement is fitting for Wallace State since the area has a large agriculture industry.
“Cullman, the county in which Wallace State resides, is consistently ranked as one of the top two counties in Alabama for agriculture income,” Murcks said. “Recently, Haynes Farms, a family farm in Cullman, was named Alabama’s 2023 Farm of Distinction. This and the previous statistic demonstrate the significance and importance of this agreement between Wallace State and Auburn to support our local and state agriculture industry.”
Wallace State has a long-standing relationship with Auburn. The college also offers a 2+2 option for Poultry Science, another major player in the area’s agriculture industry. Through the 2+2 option, students can take their first two years of classes at WSCC before transferring to Auburn to complete a bachelor’s degree.
