About the Program

Teachers of young children play a vital role in the development of children. Preschool teachers use a variety of teaching strategies and materials to teach basic skills and introduce concepts to children in all subjects. Teacher assistants provide instructional and clerical support for classroom teachers. They may also tutor and assist children.

WSCC Child Development Program Director and Instructor

Thank you for your interest in Child Development. For more than 25 years, I have taught a variety of ages from birth to adults in different settings. I have been a classroom teacher, reading coach in an elementary school and an adjunct professor before coming to Wallace State Community College to serve in my current role. I earned my Ph.D. in Early Childhood Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

I, too, began my education in a community college setting and have diligently worked through school over the years while being a mother, daughter, sister, wife, and teacher. I would love to help you become successful in your education and can provide you with information about our Child Development Program.

Please call me or email me for more information. I would love to speak with you.
