Wallace State Women Roll Past Volunteer State 68-29 in Road Rout

GALLATIN, Tenn. — Wallace State women's basketball delivered another dominant performance on Tuesday night, cruising to a 68-29 road victory over Volunteer State to remain unbeaten on the season.

The Lions took control from the opening tip and never let up, racing out to a 21-5 lead after the first quarter and stretching the advantage to 44-12 by halftime. Wallace State continued to suffocate Volunteer State defensively in the second half, holding a 59-21 edge heading into the final period on the way to the 39-point win.

Defense set the tone all night for the Lions, who forced 28 turnovers and recorded 10 steals in the decisive performance.

Sinaya Gibson continued her strong play by posting a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds to lead Wallace State. Leah Childress matched her with 12 points to go along with two rebounds and a steal. Taylor Smith added 10 points, six rebounds and a block, while Bailey Tetro finished with 10 points, seven assists, two rebounds and a steal.

Kameron Sanders contributed eight points, six rebounds, four assists, a steal and a block. Idaysia Mercer chipped in eight points and five assists, and Zamyra Goode added six points, two rebounds and a team-high four steals.

With the win, Wallace State improves to 8-0 on the season. The Lions will head back to Tennessee on Saturday for another road test against Chattanooga State.
