Wallace State’s Annual Christmas Spectacular set for Dec. 11

2024 Christmas Spectacular

The Wallace State Concert Band and Jazz Band play for dancers performing during the 2024 Christmas Spectacular. This year's performance will be on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m., at the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre in the Garlan E. Gudger, Sr., Student Center. Admission is free.

Hanceville, Ala. — Wallace State Community College’s Fine and Performing Arts (FPA) programs will host its Christmas Spectacular on Thursday, Dec. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre. Admission is free and open to the public.

The annual event features performances from Wallace State performing ensembles, which include the Concert Choir, Singers, Jazz Band, Concert Band, Percussion Ensemble and the Pride Line dance team.

“We would like to invite everyone out to join us in this celebration of the season,” said Ricky Burks, chair of the Fine and Performing Arts programs. “The groups have been collaborating with each other to produce the show, and they are excited to perform some of their favorite holiday music for an appreciative audience.”

A few songs from the set list includes a rendition of “March of the Toys” from Babes in Toyland by the Concert Band, with a dance performance by the Pride Line. The Jazz Band will perform Ella Fitzgerald’s “Sleigh Ride” and “Charlie Brown’s Christmas.” The Percussion Ensemble will play “Carol of the Bells” and Singers will perform a “Holiday Mashup” featuring a selection of old and new favorites.

2024 Christmas Spectacular

The Christmas Spectacular will be the final performance of Fall 2025 semester, but a full slate of events is scheduled for 2026, including:

  • Xanadu, by Wallace State Theatre, March 13-15
  • The Great American Road Trip, by Wallace State vocal ensembles, March 27-29
  • Solo & Chamber Ensembles, by private students, Percussion Ensemble and others, April 9
  • Big Band Dance, by Wallace State Jazz Band, April 17
  • Spring Under the Stars & Stripes, Wallace State ensembles, April 23
  • Broadway Night, by FPA students, April 30
  • I Am a Pilgrim, Wallace State vocal ensembles, July 23-25
