Wallace State teams, athletes recognized by NJCAA with All-Academic honors

Hanceville, Ala. — Wallace State Community College is proud to announce that nine teams and more than 50 student athletes were recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with All-Academic honors.

The NJCAA recognizes teams who collectively have a GPA of 3.0 or higher as All-Academic Teams of the Year. The nine Wallace State teams recognized include: Volleyball (3.74), Women’s Basketball (3.52), Women’s Tennis (3.51), Men’s Tennis (3.33), Baseball (3.21), Women’s Golf (3.16), Softball (3.11) Men’s Cross Country (3.07) and Women’s Cross Country (3.07). The Wallace State Volleyball team finished 11th in the Nation, with Women’s Tennis and Women’s Basketball each finishing among the top 20 teams in their categories. All were the top teams in the state and region.

Individual All-Academic honors are presented to student athletes based on their GPA, with those earning a 4.0 GPA recognized as First Team, followed by Second Team for a GPA of 3.80 to 3.99 and Third Team for a GPA of 3.60 to 3.79.

Seven Wallace State athletic teams claimed ACCC conference championships during the 2024-2025 season: Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Men’s Golf, and Men’s and Women’s Tennis. Seven teams finished in the top 10 in national competitions. Men’s and Women’s Cross Country finished third and fourth, respectively. Softball finished in third place, Women’s Golf finished in fifth place, and Men’s and Women’s Tennis finished in eighth and 10th place, respectively.

Wallace State is fielding teams for two new sports at the college. Men’s Soccer and Women’s Flag Football will each begin play in Fall 2025. For more information about Wallace State Athletics, visit athletics.wallacestate.edu.

Registration for the Fall 2025 semester is underway, with classes beginning on Aug. 19.
