Wallace State Defeats Shelton State with Strong Second Half
Wallace State Community College showcased a commanding performance at home, defeating
Shelton State Community College 90-76 in a thrilling matchup at Traditions Bank Arena.
The Lions improved their record to 15-2, with this win solidifying their unbeaten
start in conference play.
Sophomore guard Kami Young led the charge with a standout performance, scoring a game-high
31 points, including five three-pointers, while going a perfect 12-for-12 from the
free-throw line. Sophomore forward Antonio Cochran added 17 points, hitting three
of four from beyond the arc and grabbing seven rebounds to contribute on both ends
of the floor.
Christian Thompson dominated the paint, securing a double-double with 17 rebounds
and seven points. Freshman guard Josh Paige also made an impact, contributing 14 points
and helping maintain the team’s offensive rhythm.
Wallace State held a narrow 46-44 lead at halftime but turned up the intensity in
the second half, outscoring Shelton State 44-32. A stifling defensive effort and clutch
shooting in the final minutes helped seal the win.
