Wallace State Triumphs Over Gadsden State in Overtime Thriller
Wallace State Community College’s men’s basketball team secured a nail-biting 108-104
overtime victory against Gadsden State Community College in a high-scoring showdown
on the road. The win marks another milestone for the Lions, who continue their impressive
season.
Sophomore guard Kendarius Anderson led the charge with 25 points, shooting 10-for-22
from the field and contributing key free throws in crunch time. Sophomore guard Josh
Paige also shone, scoring 20 points, including two three-pointers, and dishing out
three assists to keep the Lions’ offense humming.
The Lions showcased a balanced attack, with four players scoring in double digits.
Sophomore forward Christian Thompson dominated the paint, recording a double-double
with 13 points and 13 rebounds, while sophomore guard Authur Johnson added 17 points,
shooting a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line.
Wallace State trailed 47-40 at halftime but mounted an impressive comeback in the
second half, outscoring Gadsden State 52-45 to force overtime. In the extra period,
the Lions demonstrated their composure, outpacing their opponents 16-12 to secure
the victory.
