Wallace State Presents The Nutcracker Nov. 24-25
Hanceville, AL — Wallace State Community College will present its annual production of The Nutcracker Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 23-24 at Betty Leeth Haynes Theatre in the Garlan E. Gudger Student Center.
The classic ballet will include members of the Wallace State Allegro Dance Theatre and Ballet South, led by dance instructor Brooke Desnoes. Community volunteers also make up a portion of the cast in several scenes.
“We are excited to once again bring this beautiful performance to the Cullman community,” said Desnoes, Wallace State’s Dance instructor and owner of Ballet South. “For many, the holidays are not complete without The Nutcracker. This is our sixth year performing The Nutcracker and this year we have the largest participation of community dancers. I’m extremely grateful to everyone who is participating and giving of their time and talent. I hope everyone who comes to see the show will enjoy seeing it as much as we enjoy producing it.”
For Desnoes, presenting The Nutcracker is not only a wonderful tradition for the community, but also a chance to illustrate the impact the arts can have in the community and individually.
“Arts education is vital to every community and young people, and it is a pleasure to be able to work with the cast and crew,” Desnoes said. “I see each dancer grow and gain new skills beyond dance technique with each rehearsal and performance.”
