Machine Tool Technology Program Hosting Open House
Hanceville, AL — Wallace State Community College announces the Machine Tool Technology program will host an open house on Tuesday, Nov. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Herb Black Machining Building on its Hanceville campus.
The event will allow visitors to meet with faculty, see the machines used in training for machine tool technology and computerized numerical control, learn about day and evening class options and about scholarships available to Machine Tool Technology students.
“Wallace State Community College’s Machine Tool Technology/CNC Program is dedicated to preparing students for success in a high-demand field,” said Program Director Justin Burnett, adding that 85 percent of students are already employed while completing their studies and 99 percent secure a machining job by graduation.
The program offers both day and night classes. The full-time day program meets Monday through Thursday, while night classes, held two evenings a week, are ideal for first-shift workers looking to upskill.
The program offers semesterly Gene Haas Foundation Scholarships and this spring, the program will introduce a special “Buy One, Get One” promotion for night classes, making career advancement even more accessible, Burnett added. Attendees of the open house can apply for a scholarship at the event.
The Herb Black Machining Building is located on College Drive, across from the parking lot for the Tom Drake Coliseum. For more information about the Machine Tool Technology program, contact Burnett at 256.352.8235 or email machinetool@wallacestate.edu or visit www.wallacestate.edu/mtt.
