Softball Celebrates Home Opener with Doubleheader Wins
Hanceville, AL — Wallace State Community College's softball team earned back-to-back victories against Itawamba Community College in their home opener played on Valentine's Day,
Game 1: Wallace State 15, Itawamba 5
Led by Caroline Cartron, Bayleigh Rouse, and Jessie Taylor, who delivered impressive hits and runs to help[ Wallace State quickly build a substantial lead. Tessa Word's powerful hitting, including two home runs, further solidified Wallace State's commanding performance.
On the defensive end, pitcher Emily Simon led the charge, effectively shutting down Itawamba's offense.
Game 2: Wallace State 7, Itawamba 5
In the second game, Wallace State continued to showcase their prowess on the field. Wheeler, Brandy Phillips, and Jadyn Foster led the offensive charge, driving in crucial runs to maintain Wallace State's lead. Taylor's powerful home run sealed the victory for Wallace State, securing their second win of the day.
Pitcher Katie Simon delivered a solid performance on the mound, effectively stifling Itawamba's attempts to mount a comeback.
The Lions season record to date is 5-3.
