Wallace State Diagnostic Imaging recognizes graduates
HANCEVILLE, Ala. — Wallace State Community College’s Diagnostic Imaging program recognized its latest group of graduates with its annual pinning ceremony.
“Today marks a milestone in your journey as radiologic technologist,” said Program Director and Assistant Dean of Health Sciences Jim Malone. “The fact that you’re here, that you made it to this achievement, it shows that you are gifted, serious minded, have promise and a purpose for yourself and your future.
“Wherever life takes you, wherever you may work, I know that you will be great technologists and will make a difference in the lives of your patients,” Malone added. “I encourage you to uphold the values of caring, which should always be in your heart and should be in the heart of every healthcare worker.”
A number of awards were presented to students during the pinning ceremony.
Class officer awards were given to class president Destanie Stone of Arab, vice president Bella Davis of Crane Hill, treasurer Nain Gonzalez of Scottsboro, and secretary Madison Pliscofsky of Birmingham.
Stone was also presented the Academic Excellence Award for maintaining the highest GPA.
The Clinical Excellence Award was presented to Emily Reed of Hayden. In presenting the award, Clinical Coordinator Kelli Rich noted Reed completed all of her competencies by the end of the second semester, a first during her time as an instructor at Wallace State.
“That really is quite the accomplishment,” Malone added. “Students have four semesters to complete their competencies for graduation. It is very rare to have a student completely finish their competencies by the end of the second semester.”
