Matthew McFall named Wallace State Community College’s new Chief Information Officer

HANCEVILLE, ALA. – Matthew McFall has been named Wallace State Community College’s
                        new Chief Information Officer for the Division of Information Technology.
McFall comes to Wallace State after leading Jacksonville State University’s Technology
                        Support Department (within the Division of Information Technology) as director for
                        nearly five years.
"I am very excited to join Wallace State as the new CIO.  I am fortunate to have inherited
                        a team of very dedicated and talented IT professionals.  We look forward to working
                        with the students, faculty, and staff to ensure the technology solutions and support
                        we provide on campus are at the highest level they can be,” McFall said.
While at Jacksonville State, among other duties as director, McFall served as the
                        liaison between IT and the rest of the university community; created a technology
                        plan to allow the university to transition to remote operations after a 2018 tornado
                        struck the campus and during the COVID-19 pandemic; and implemented a faculty device
                        refreshment program that provided all full-time faculty a new mobile computing device,
                        replacing desktop computers being utilized.
McFall, who also has previous experience in the private sector, began his career at
                        Jacksonville State in 2008, working and teaching in multiple roles prior to being
                        named Director of the Division of Information Technology (Department of Technology
                        Support).
McFall has a pair of degrees from Jacksonville State. He earned his bachelor’s degree
                        in Business Management/Human Resource Management and his master’s in Manufacturing
                        Systems Technology. McFall is currently pursuing a Doctor of Science degree in Emergency
                        Management from his alma mater.
McFall has also served as the Assistant Chief of the Webster’s Chapel Volunteer Fire
                        Department in Wellington, a volunteer Admissions Liaison Officer for the United States
                        Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, Colo.), and a high school football referee.
McFall and his wife, Lori, have two children. Their son, Braxton, is a Cadet 2nd Class
                        (Junior) at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He will commission
                        as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Air Force in May of 2023 and hopes to receive
                        a pilot training slot. Their daughter, Callie, is a sophomore at Jacksonville State,
                        majoring in Fashion Merchandising.
